THE FIRST ANNUAL AIDS CURE DAY IS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2013.
The AIDS Policy Project will mark the day by organizing teach-ins, and encouraging others to organize teach-ins, on AIDS cure research and activism across the United States and the world.
THIRTY YEARS INTO THIS HORRIBLE PANDEMIC THE TIME HAS COME to push for a cure for AIDS for THIS generation.
PARTICIPATE! WE WILL SHOW YOU HOW to give a short presentation about AIDS cure research at your school, in your church, in your community group, or to group in your home.
(If you want to keep it simple, just have a group of friends over for coffee and snacks, or a glass of wine, speak for a bit, then open it up and have a discussion. The goal: to spread the word about the state of this research and this activism.)
YOU CAN DO THIS! It only takes one person to start.
We’re putting together:
A simple teach-in guide.
TEACH-IN ON THE TEACH-IN (it will be live online, so you can ask questions), taught by experienced Teach-Inistas from the AIDS Policy Project.
A list of suggested handouts – you can make copies and distribute. For a donation, we’ll send you posters, stickers, and buttons to distribute.
We will hold an online webinar taught by a prominent AIDS cure researcher (to be announced shortly). Also, where possible, we will connect you to friendly, local AIDS experts.
On October 5th, we’ll have hotline volunteers to answer your questions—who are world-famous researchers! Even during your teach-in!
If you are medical student, we have a special program for you, so let us know.
This is going to be fun.
“Wait—What’s a teach-in?” you may ask. A Teach-In is an informal chance to share what you know with a group of peers. Here’s a picture of one, though in ours, we will be laughing and probably eating chocolate: http://tinyurl.com/m9xd7ps
RSVP BELOW AND WE WILL BE IN TOUCH.
(Hey: Are you from another AIDS organization and want to organize something special? Yay! If you want, we’d be happy to help.)
Information is power, baby.
