Thanks for answering my question on Sept 8. I'll get tested for HSV-2 IgG Ab. But my main concern was that being co-infected with HSV-2 & HIV increase risk of passing HIV to me by 5x more than if he'd have just HIV. Would PrEP for me and valacyclovir for him (as separate or simultaneous TXs) bring the same near zero HIV (and HSV) transmission rate as in HPTN 052, PARTNER or latest Kaiser Permanente PrEP study? Would contracting HSV-2 still make me 2-8x more susceptible to HIV even under PrEP?

The statistics you’re quoting don’t apply when the positive partner has an undetectable viral load on therapy. The risk of transmission in such cases is near zero, regardless of the type of sex or the presence of herpes or other STDs. Your focus should be on the HSV, not the HIV.
